Gibson L00 mid 1930's
Actual guitar featured in Rick Batey's 'The American Blues Guitar'. My favorite guitar. Probably the most sought after guitar for recording. I brought it from John Joyce for £20 in the 1960's and he got it from a music shop in Hammersmith where he used to work for £5 from a character fondly known as ' One lung 'arry ' who could still play a mean Tenor Sax despite his 'lack of air' !
Gibson L - Century 1930's
| | Actual guitar featured in Rick Batey's 'The American Blues Guitar'. "A very rare piece of Gibson guitar history. The Century model was manufactured to celebrate the Century of Progress Exhibition held in Chicago in the late 30's. Two models were made a 12-fret neck-to- body and a 14-fret neck-to-body. This is the 14 fret model. Machine heads have been replaced for grover gold plated ones. Great sounding guitar. |
Gibson L1 1926
| | Actual guitar featured in Rick Batey's 'The American Blues Guitar'. This guitar without a doubt is a real gem. In pristine condition this Gibson L1 was made in 1926, Gibson's earliest catalogued flat-top guitar. All original including the case with silver screened logo, carved maple back and sides, spruce top, early multiple inlays around soundhole. This is the model played by the great Robert Johnson. |
Gibson Sonex De - Lux
One of my favorite electrics. Not the most expensive of Gibsons or a high quality make but it has a great sound accross the board which many higher end Gibson's don't have. Only made in the early 80's for a couple of years this guitar has become more collectable over the years.
Gibson L0 or L1 early 1930's
Disseminating between L-0s and L-00s is confusing. It appears that they switch position in the model line in terms of features and appointments over their years of production. This one actually shares more in common with a flat top L-1. It's bound top and back. Most L-0s and L-00s are only bound on top. It is also original natural finish, while most L-0s and L-00s are black or sunburst. Finally, it is all mahogany. Most L-0s and L-00s are spruce and mahogany (on rare occasion, there were maple bodied L-0s and L-00s, much like L-Centuries, in both natural and burst), though some early L-0s and late L-00s are all mahogany. It also appears that the all mahogany L-0s and L-1 were made at the same time as ones that were produced with spruce tops. confused ? absolutely !
Gibson B45 12 string
1960's made classic Gibson 12 string. This was the model in both right and left handed versions that Erik Darlin and Bill Svanoe played on the Rooftop Singers Worldwide hit "Walk Right In" a re-working of a Gus Cannon song.
Gibson Mastertone
Rare 1930's Gibson made Mastertone 6 string.
Gibson Folk Singer F25
1960's "Summer of Love" guitar. This one plays and sounds sublime. No issues
